Reflection about teaching presence
The teacher plays a central role in any learning environment, in e-learning the teacher plays the role of facilitator of learning rather than an instructor who only gives information, they become more a guide. "Teaching presence" is the manner in which you relate to the students. Your teaching presence is your presence in the classroom. Teaching presence is defined as the design, facilitation, and direction of cognitive and social processes for the purpose of realizing personally meaningful and educational worthwhile learning outcomes.
Our goal is to develop tools that are efficient, reliable, and practical in the task of helping teachers both understand and improve their on-line teaching. The tools allow teachers to assess their own postings and serve as valued feedback for reflection and improvement of the teaching function, also the tools can be used for research to test hypothesis or diagnose problems in on-line teaching.
The focus of teaching presence is to increase social presence and student learning.

I think this is just the truth. For me, teaching presence is something essential that bith teachers' and studnets' must be aware of. I agree with the idea that the teacher is the one who plays an important role in the classroom and even in the e-learning enviroment; thus, if the teacher does not work very hard, the course may be in troubles.
